Safe Schools Healthy Students
The Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative is a
collaborative effort between the Mississippi Bend Area Education
Agency, Scott County School Districts, Vera French Mental Health
Center, the Center for Alcohol & Drug Services, Inc. (CADS),
local law enforcement and community-based agencies. The purpose
of the initiative to promote safe and healthy environments in
which Scott County children can learn and develop. The program
will provide a means for Scott County schools and the community
to work together to provide comprehensive educational, mental
health, social, and juvenile justice system services that
promote healthy child development and school environments that
are safe, disciplined, and drug free.
The program goal is to plan, develop, and enhance safe and
drug free learning environments for children and families in
Scott County.
The program includes six distinct elements with identified
goals and objectives:
Element One: Safe School Environments
Element Two: Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug and Violence
Prevention and Intervention
Element Three: Mental Health
Element Four: Early Childhood Psychosocial and Emotional
Development
Element Five: School Reform
Element Six: Safe School Policies and Procedures
